Loneliness is often a reality when a loved one lives alone. They start to withdraw and stop trying new things. Sometimes, they can go a whole day without speaking to someone.

With Companion & Alexa always a word away, they can feel safe and really get into using their Alexa. They can add interactive apps, play music, even have recipes read aloud to them while they cook. It's a comforting voice that carries with it the comfort of knowing they are not alone.

Frequently asked questions

A la carte items

Can you provide a makeup artist?

Of course! A makeup artist is included in our Tier 4 video package. For other tiers, our videographer will provide basic powder to remove shine. If you wish to have a dedicated makeup artist on site, this can be added to any shoot as an a la carte item for $650 per day.

Can we get drone footage?

Yes! This is a simple a la carte addition to any production. Simply mention it during the onboarding process and we will take care of it.

How does your pricing work?

We provide four tiers of video production, as well as a la carte options that can be added to any tier.
Every Richter Productions shoot, no matter the tier, will result in a completed video of up to two minutes in length. This includes scripting, voiceover, shooting, editing and animation.
You can create as many additional completed videos from your shoot as you like by purchasing additional editing. This is a fantastic way to get the best value from your shoot, and the price per minute of editing is based on your tier. You can see examples of each tier here.

Are the travel expenses for your team included in the price?

Yes! Travel to anywhere in the continental USA and Canada is included in our pricing. If we're shooting overseas, then any additional travel expenses will be included in the proposal.

Do you provide enterprise or bulk pricing?

Absolutely. Richter has a full suite of services available for enterpise applications, and we have many long-term relationships with teams all over the world that need a high volume of video production. Together with our sister company, Richter10.2 Media Group, we are able to provide and and every video produciton service your team could need. We'd love to set up a discussion and answer any further questions you may have!

What is your refund policy?

Richter Productions offers custom services unique to the needs of each client. As with custom services in other businesses and industries, our services are non-refundable. If a client is not satisfied with a product, we will do everything possible to correct any problems and deliver a product the client is happy with. We've never been unable to do so.

Can I get the source files for my project?

You will have full ownership of your completed video, however this does not include the software project files, or “source files” for the video. We make it easy and cost effective for clients to make any number of edits in the future as needed.

How do edits work?

Each project goes through an exact sequence. For each stage of the process where feedback is required (scripting as needed, and editing) you will have two full rounds of feedback/edits to ensure you are very happy. Additional rounds of edits will be billed at $200 each. This also means that as each step of the process is approved that going back later to make changes/edits to earlier steps would incur a $200 fee for each edit requested. For example, having approved a script for a voiceover, if a client wants to change the script after seeing the first animation draft, there would be a $200 fee for the additional work done to update the script and re-record the audio. Correcting errors or omissions made by the Richter team will not incur any fees. These fees are not intended to be profitable for Richter, only to cover the basic costs involved in the additional creative work needed to make the edits.

How does scripting work for live video?

Your scritpwriters job is to collect specifics about the exact goals you have for the video at hand, and ensure that the remainder of the production team is armed with that information. The actual scripting involve is usually:

  • Writing a script to be recorded by a Richter voiceover artist, with which the live footage would play.
  • Writing interview questions that will lead to the right points being hit upon by interviewees during the shoot day.
  • A combination of both.

How long can my script be?

Scripting is calculated at 140 words per minute. Every tier of Richter Productions video includes a 2 minute completed video, so if you would like your project to be scripted and eidted to a voiceover, the script can be up to 280 words long.

Shoot Day

What should I wear on camera?

You should wear something you are comfortable in, that you feel represents you as a professional. For example, many people ask if they should wear a suit or dress up. The answer is, if you work in a setting where a suit is the norm, then that's perfect. If a suit would be out of place in the context of your interview (such as a factory worker, lab tech, athlete on the field, etc.) then it would likely be out of place on camera. The only technical limitation on clothing is it is best to avoid complicated, small or close patterns on clothing. These can sometimes not be accurately recorded through the camera, so solid and sublte colors are best. After all, the focus is you, not your clothes.

Should I do my own makeup?

In some cases, Richter will provide a makeup artist on site. If this is true of your interview, you will be made aware of that fact well in advance and will not have to do your own makeup. If you have not been explicitly told there will be a makeup artist on site and you would prefer to wear makeup on camera, then it is recommended to arrive at the shoot location with your makeup done. The videographer on site will have transparent powder to handle any shine on camera.

How long will my interview take?

While every project is different, typical interviews last between 10-30 minutes. Allotting an hour on site at the interview location is best. If you have less time available, let the crew know with as much notice as possible so they can accommodate.

I'm nervous about being interviewed! What is it like?

Being interviewed in a Richter shoot is incredibly simple and easy! Prior to the shoot, you'll be given access to the list of questions for the interview. There is usually about 5-10 questions, that are really just prompts to help you flow into talking. If you would like, you are welcome to bring notes to the interview, however this is not necessary. When you arrive at the shoot location, you'll meet the crew and be asked to sit or stand on camera. There will be lights, and one or two cameras aimed in your direction. The crew will adjust the camera to you, add any needed powder, and ensure you're comfortable. The interview itself is a conversation. You will not be looking into camera, rather at the interviewer who'll be in front of you. You do not have to memorize any lines at all. It's also important to remember, you are being interviewed about this topic because it's something you do every day! Simply answer the questions as if no cameras were there. You can go through the questions as many times as you like, and the entire process will take usually less than 20 minutes. From there, we'll choose the very best pieces of your interview and you'll look like a rockstar!

How can I give a good interview?

The most compelling interview footage comes when you treat the interview like a conversation with the interviewer.
Don’t worry about forgetting what you’re supposed to say because your interview is not a test, or a presentation: it’s a conversation about the thing you do every day for a living.
As for your answers, the one small thing that can help orient the viewer is to repeat the question in your answer. For example:

Interviewer: When did you start selling the Padlock security software?
Incorrect response: 1998.
Correct response: We began selling our Padlock security software in 1998...
